Humble Rants 20 March 2013

by Robert Skoglund aka The humble Farmer

Isn't it sad. Before GWB started his war I spent my time writing happy stories to entertain the masses.

He hadn't been in office long before I noticed a similarity between what was happening in my country and what had happened in Germany in the 1930's. This was my own fault, because people who had never read a lot of books about Hitler and how he operated would never have seen the frightening parallel.

So, as they say, ignorance is bliss.

But I was a speaker and was reading everything I could about Hitler to find out what he did that made him such a commanding force when he was on a platform. And, along the way, without even trying, I learned to recognize fascism when I saw it.

I started to write about what I was seeing. So many people had no idea of what was going on under GWB in America. The content and purpose of my writing changed.

Eight years of George W. Bush changed me into a politically oriented old man who had lived abroad in the free world too long and had read too many history books.

I often laugh when I think that I'd be an altogether different person had the popular vote --- the will of most voting Americans --- determined the outcome of the 2000 presidential election.

Countless thousands of people in this world who lost family members in an unnecessary war probably regret the outcome of that election, too.
