FOMB/Merrymeeting Art Center to hold lecture on photography

"Perry Tidal Marsh" by Heather Perry

BOWDOINHAM — Photographer Heather Perry will talk about her artistic experiences in a talk this Saturday, Aug. 11, at Merrymeeting Arts Center on Main Street here.

Jointly sponsored by Merrymeeting Arts Center and Friends of Merrymeeting Bay, the talk will begin at 11 a.m. Registration is not required.

Perry's work has been published in National Geographic, DownEast, Maine Boats Homes & Harbors, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Wooden Boat, among other publications. Fans of Merrymeeting Bay know her best from Frank Burroughs' "Confluence: Merrymeeting Bay," as Perry did the photography for the book.
The talk will be in a gallery at the Merrymeeting Arts Center, which is currently hosting its major show "Three Town Artists: Carlo Pittore, Bryce Muir & Carter Smith." The show is supported by The 250th Anniversary Committee of the Town of Bowdoinham and the Carlo Pittore Foundation for the Figurative Arts. The arts center is open on weekends 10-1 Saturdays and 1-4 Sundays. For more information see or contact Jeff DeRosa at 371-8099.
On Aug. 18, Friends of Merrymeeting Bay will continue its Summer Outside! series. This series is the warm weather counterpart to FOMB’s popular Winter Speaker Series. Events are usually free and are open to the public. Their next outing will be “Surficial Geology of Merrymeeting Bay” with Tom Weddle on Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To pre-register for this trip, or to receive more information about FOMB’s programs, call or write Jeff DeRosa, executive coordinator, at 371-8099 or The full Outside! series is on the web at:
