'Room With a View' to play at Dreamland Theatre

"Room With a View" kicks off Dreamland's third season.

BATH — Sagadahoc Preservation Inc. has announced the 2011-2012 season of Dreamland Theater. Starting in September and running through April, the theater will present a series of 16 films, with each month's selections highlighting a different genre or theme.

All films are shown on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at The Winter Street Center, 880 Washington St. in Bath, across from Library Park. Short films or documentaries start at 6:30 p.m. with the main feature at 7 p.m. The suggested donation is $5. 

Starting out the season on Sept. 8 is the 1985 Merchant-Ivory production of E.M. Forster"s "A Room With a View." Starring Maggie Smith, Helena Bonham Carter and Denholm Elliot, the film won an Academy Award for screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala.

On Sept. 22, the delightful "Shakspeare in Love," winner of seven Academy Awards, will be shown.

The Dreamland Theater is generously underwriten by Jorgensen Landscaping, with each month's presentation sponsored by a business community partner. September is sponsored by Ornament and The House of Logan in Bath. Movie rentals are donated by River Bottom Video in Bath. Attendees may bring a box supper. Soft drinks, popcorn and candies are available for $1 each. 

The Winter Street Center is the home of Sagadahoc Preservation Inc. and serves, in part, as a community center.
