This Place Matters: Vote for Bath's SPI to help support Winter Street Center

BATH – Sagadahoc Preservation Inc.'s Winter Street Center has been selected as one of the 100 historic preservation projects competing nationally in the "This Place Matters Community Challenge" sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The organizations that gain the three top online vote totals on the National Trust's website will receive prizes of $25,000, $10,000 and $5,000 respectively. Last year's winner was a theater in Austin, Texas, with a total of 7,862 votes.

Sagadahoc Preservation is hoping to win a prize, which will be used to restore the former sanctuary at Winter Street. SPI was the only Maine organization selected to compete.

The Challenge runs from June 1 to June 30. Only one vote is allowed for each email address, so SPI is asking supporters to vote, and then ask their friends and neighbors to vote, and "like" SPI on their Facebook page.

To learn more and to read about the other competitors, see the National Trust's website at www.preservationnation.org. Find SPI's page either on the map or on the List of Sites. Follow the directions to register and vote for Sagadahoc Preservation, Inc./Winter Street Center.
