Photo essay: Birds

Posted Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Features

Steve Cartwright has offered up these photos of his feathered friends, just in time for John James Audubon's 226th birthday.

I'm not sure what it is birds have to tell us
but they speak to us in their lilt and tilt
flight and feathers
their inexplicably delicate colors
from subtle to bright
so fragile and yet
so able to lift the
heavy human spirit
